My sister and her husband went to Costa Rica on vacation and emailed many gorgeous pics of lush scenery and rolling hills. Of course I immediately had to post the food one.

I'm thinking this is a chicken and mushrooms dish and boy does it sure look good!
I went to my yearly gyno visit today which was supposed to start at 11 am, but didn't get to see the doctor until 12 pm. Luckily it was a follow-up, so I didn't have to strip and engage in the stirrups (seems to be more embarassing with a male doctor). So as I sat on the examining table, staring at various anatomical charts, I decided to pass the time by pretending I was in medical school memorizing the terms of various body parts. By the way, an unfertilized egg is made of parts like like nucleus and oomoplast (I forget the others). That was yeah...lots of fun. -_-

I'd blog more about my life, but there doesn't really seem to be anything to blog about. So in the meantime, enjoy Iraqi Invasion: A Text Misadventure (Zork meets the Washington Post typey thing).
Via TMN, Bush and former administration officials have a pleasant photo op, unpleasant words.
I am imitating the fabulous Kyren and posting my year in first sentences of the month from 2005:

January: Had a restful four day New Year's weekend.

February: Got my official letter last Friday, detailing the particulars of the layoff (3/31).

March: Yesterday was the first time (that I remember anyways) that my sister and I have consulted each other as adults over a family situation.

April: I love my extended family.

May: Again, it's been awhile since I've written in the blog.

July: Just heard about the London bombing on NPR.

August: 10. Asian beers are much weaker-assed then Mexican beers.

September: Just thought I'd post a gorgeous pic from a friend who recently started blogging.

October: Went to Tar-Jay this weekend to buy the kids their Halloween costumes.

November: As soon as it turned to fall, I've transmorgophied into a WoW playing, brownie baking mom-ish type person recently.

December: I look in the mirror and realize that I don't like myself very much sometimes.

Hmm and looking back all I can think is wow, how depressing... :p
It is 8:00 am ish. Lo Gung is off to work and the kids are at school and its a whole new year. Damn. It seems that every year is marked by a few memorable events (some good, some bad). Last year I got laid off, went through a bout of depression and a buckload of other things. What is going to happen this year though? I obviously have to look for a job, and the uncertainty is a bit scary. Hopefully everyone will stay healthy and nothing too crazy ass will happen.

Also, you know when a person reaches a certain age, maybe it was the best period in their life and apparently they mentally freeze a mental image of themselves and thereby dress and act that way for the rest of their lives? (hence the David Dickinson inset) No? Okay. Well for me, one who used to embrace the latest cutting technologies have been quite slow recently (yeah when i was 8, I was quite conversant in DOS on my old TRS-80, yo). When my sister N bought me an ipod for Christmas, I stared at it suspiciously for a couple of days before I fiddled around with it. Bought my first song off of iTunes and when I started dancing around the room like the shadowed people in the iPod commercial, except without the Rastafarian hair, Lo-Gung and daughter stared at me like I had gone around the bend (perhaps I had).

Lo-Gung started building a Pottery Barn-esque set of shelves for Son (he's already built a nice shelf and desk for Daughter). Son is overjoyed, and of course the first thing out of his mouth when he saw the structure taking shape was, "Ha ha my shelves are bigger then your shelves, Gah Jeh (big sister)!!!!!!!!" So then of course it had to be explained that it wasn't intentionally bigger but that the design was based on what was in the PB catalogue. I don't think the kiddies are convinced, however.

BTW, this is one of the funniest blonde jokes in some time. :)

I hope everyone has a great New Year.
